On-Campus Housing at Portland State University

Student housing at Portland State University is comfortable, convenient, and affordable. Twelve housing complexes are located on the campus.

Students can select from several housing styles:

  • traditional residence hall rooms,
  • studio (or one-room) apartments,
  • and 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments.

Single and multiple occupancy units available
Students can live by themselves or with a roommate. Spouses and families are welcome to live on campus in PSU housing.

Furnished and unfurnished rooms available
Some rooms are furnished with a bed, desk, chair, closet, and chest of drawers. Other rooms and apartments are un-furnished. Students must provide their own linens.

Cost: PSU's on-campus housing units cost less than comparable off-campus apartments. Campus housing prices range from $300 - $950 per month, depending on apartment size and building amenities. Utilities & amenities: All on-campus housing units include Internet and PSU campus computer network. Also most on-campus housing units include utilities (water, electricity & heat), easy to access, coin-operated laundry machines and on-site resident managers and assistants. In traditional residence hall style buildings, students share communal bathrooms and shower facilities. Studio, 1- and 2-bedroom apartments include kitchens and private bathrooms.

Applying for PSU Housing
New students should apply for housing as early as possible, as PSU housing units and apartments fill up quickly. PSU housing contracts are rented by term (1,2,3, or 4).

In addition to monthly rent, students must also pay for:

  • $ 50 Application fee
  • $ 150 Security deposit
  • A one-time cleaning fee (price range: $55-$200)
  • Telephone service

The monthly rent of all apartments includes the cost of water, sewer, & garbage collection. Other utilities, such as phone, electricity, heat, etc. vary by building, and may need to be paid separately.

Housing Tours
Tours of PSU on-campus housing facilities are offered daily. Tours leave from the 1st floor, Rm 131 Neuberger Hall in the Orientation/Campus Visits Office. The following buildings are included in the tour: Ondine, First Year Experience Program, The Broadway, Epler Hall and Montgomery Hall. Tours leave promptly at 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
